Farewell to Summer 2019

Emma Hatem, Writer

As summer 2019 ends, it is time to say our goodbyes. Summer is a great time for a break from one’s normal life and to spend time with friends and family.  Whether you spent your summer staying home and relaxing, going to camp, going to the beach, or having a “wicked awesome” Boston summer in the city, these past three months were probably your favorite of the year.  Between laying on the beach, camping in the woods, working a summer job or watching Netflix, there is something to be said for each and every summer experience. These past three months were filled with dripping ice cream cones, sandy feet, Red Sox games and Netflix binging sessions. But with the end of summer, comes the beginning of fall, bringing fresh apples, new pencils, pumpkin spiced lattes, and the first days of school.  Even though the days are getting shorter and the air is getting colder, the memories of summer will help all of us get through those dreary days in the middle of March when the rain turns the snow to slush but refuses to melt, and spring is supposed to be here but hasn’t quite shown itself. Even as we begin to get into the routine of school and begin fall activities, the memories of summer 2019 will stay with us all year. As rewarding as the school year is, there is nothing like waking up in July to the sun shining and the birds chirping!
